Last 3rd and 4th October Wintex consortium organised some Masterclass on Advanced Textiles sessions in Sfax and Monastir, Tunisia.

The first journey was held in Sfax, and the Univeristy of Sfax hosted the whole event. It started with Amine Haj Taieb, introducing Wintex project, and the masterclasses concept and objectives, to all the attendants.

Then, Sergi Artigas, Leitat (Spain); Raul Fangueiro, Fibrenamics (Portugal); Ariadna Detrell, AEI Tèxtils (Spain); exposed their presentations on Conditions for innovation, Trends in textile innovation – Fibres and composites, and Clusters as a tool to increase competitiveness, respectively.

After a break, the focus of the session was on New business models with smart textiles, The Future of Smart Textiles, and Industrial case – Circular textiles. The presentations were exposed by Daniela Zavec, Titera (Slovenia); Judith Bosch, ETP (Belgium); Joan Santamaria and Francesc Solà, Hilaturas Arnau (Spain); in this order.

On 4th, the order followed the same structure for the first four presentations and changed for the presentations after the break. Specifically, Jamie Meehan, IDEAM Cluster (Ireland) talked about Digitalization & Green Transition; Myriam Vanneste, CENTEXBEL (Belgium), presented the Trends in textile innovation – Functionalization finishing processes, and Omar Cherkaoui, ESITH (Morocco) presented the Industrial impact of textile innovation centers in Jordan and Morocco – Best practices and learnings.

The main aim of these events was to provide knowledge and exchange of good practices from EU to Tunisia, to generate business opportunities and synergic meetings.
